Philip Lynott: The Lost Recordings
WORLD EXCLUSIVE:
Rare Phil Lynott Tracks Released as Free CD with HOTPRESS

HOTPRESS are proud to announce that a world exclusive Phil Lynott CD comes free with the HOTPRESS, published Thursday, 10th August 2006. This mini-album, The Lost Recordings, is a landmark in Irish rock history, as it contains five previously unreleased tracks from one of Ireland's greatest rock stars.

Recorded at Trend Studios in Dublin, by John Dardis, these five exceptional recordings have, until now, remained hidden in the vaults. Two of the songs are effectively "new": they were never otherwise recorded, so that even the most ardent of Thin Lizzy fans will not have heard them before.

"There is something very special about the recordings," says Niall Stokes, editor of HOTPRESS. "Philip was a romantic through and through, and these songs reflect that side of his personality in a particularly touching way. Especially in those early years, he saw himself as a poet and a lyricist and listening to the lovely versions of "Song Of The Ageing Orphan" and "Dublin" on this record, you can hear why. This CD will be treasured by anyone who is interested in rock 'n' roll or in Irish music."

2006 is the 20th anniversary of the death of Philip Lynott. This extraordinary collectors' CD with a beautiful shot by Roy Esmonde of a youthful Philip on the front celebrates his memory and musical genius. It is timed to coincide with his birthday, which falls on August 20, and with the first anniversary of the unveiling of the Philip Lynott statue, beside Bruxelles in Harry St.

"It's strange to think that these recordings have been waiting for over 35 years to see the light of day," says John Dardis, producer of The Lost Recordings. "It was an innocent era, but there was the beginning of something great going on in Irish music at the time, as these sessions confirm. Prompted by the fact that I had been approached by a lot of people who wanted to hear these recordings, I thought HOTPRESS was the perfect vehicle to get them out to that huge audience of people who love Irish music and who along the way fell in love with Philip Lynott, both as a musician and as a great Irish character."

In what is a beautifully intimate set of recordings, a different side of Philip Lynott, songwriter and musician, comes to the fore, offering us a wonderful and unforgettable portrait of the artist as a young man.
